Rhodiola Heatwave Defeater
Refreshingly cool and hydrating
What do you need?
- 1 ltr boiled water
- 4 tbsp. dried Hibiscus Flowers (or 4 Hibiscus teabags)
- Fresh dried Mint Leaves
- 4 tsp. Rhodiola Rosea Powder
- Honey or Maple Syrup
- Fresh Lime
- Pinch of Salt
Step by step instructions:
- Infuse the Herbs: Bring 1 litre of water to a boil, then remove it from the heat. Add the hibiscus flowers and fresh mint leaves.
- Add the Rhodiola: Whisk the rhodiola powder directly into the hot water. Note: Rhodiola has a bitter, earthy, slightly woody taste, which is why the strong flavors of hibiscus and mint are used to mask it.
- Steep: Let the mixture steep for 10 to 15 minutes to extract the nutrients.
- Sweeten and Strain: Stir in your sweetener while the liquid is still warm so it dissolves fully. Strain the liquid into a glass pitcher to remove the flowers and leaves.
- Chill and Serve: Stir in the fresh lime juice. Let it cool completely in the fridge, or pour it directly over a tall glass packed tightly with ice cubes.
💡 Extra tips for Heatwaves:
- Add Salt: Add a tiny pinch of sea salt to the pitcher. You won't taste it, but it replaces lost sodium from sweating.
- Batching: You can scale this recipe up and keep it in the fridge for up to 4 days. Drink one glass each morning for the best anti-fatigue effects.
